Furby Boom
Furby Boom is a popular toy introduced by Hasbro in 2013 as an updated version of Furby 2012. Like the 2012 Furby, Furby Boom also features the ability to interact with a mobile app, opening up new possibilities for playing and communicating with the toy.
History and Development
Furby Boom was developed as the next generation of popular Furby toys. In 2013, the trademark “Furby Boom” was registered, emphasizing the innovative approach to creating this toy. The slogan “A new generation is hatching” highlighted the novelty and uniqueness of Furby Boom.

Technical Features
Furby Boom uses ultrasound to communicate with other toys and apps. The data transmission protocol, developed by GeneralPlus, is called ComAir. A major innovation was the ability to “lay” virtual eggs in the app, from which Furblings hatch — virtual pets.
Release and Sales
Caring for a Furbling is practically identical to playing with a Tamagotchi. It can also play games with Furby Boom and other Furblings. Furby Boom can lay up to 50 eggs. Each one has a unique style, personality, and color scheme. Furblings may or may not resemble their parent’s color scheme. Additionally, a truck takes your Furbling to its room. Each room can be personalized. Eggs can also be obtained by scanning QR codes from the Hasbro website, as well as from third-party exclusive toys.

Design and Appearance
Compared to its 2012 predecessor, Furby Boom features a brighter and more varied design. Notable features include serrated faceplate edges, a smaller beak with a detailed tongue, plastic feet, and a unique ear design.
Crystal Series
In 2014, the Crystal Series was released featuring transparent, glittering ears and design elements. When scanning a Crystal Furby or Crystal Furbling in the Furby Boom app, it changed the app’s design to a crystal theme.
Furbacca
Of particular interest was Furbacca — a version of Furby styled after the Wookiee character from Star Wars. This model combined classic Furby features with design elements characteristic of the film’s characters.
