Emoto-Tronic Baby
The Emoto-Tronic Furby Baby is a unique toy released by Hasbro in 2005 and discontinued in 2007. These toys represent a more “childlike” version of the adult Furbys from the same year, featuring a more adorable appearance and a limited set of functions.
The Emoto-Tronic Furby Baby’s features include the ability to move its legs, assuming a sitting position when falling asleep and straightening them when waking up. After feeding, the toy needed to be burped by gently touching its belly. The Furby could also sing and say phrases when you pressed its belly, and laugh when you tickled it upon request.

Release and Sales
The toys were sold in four color variations and had a limited vocabulary. Some of the phrases they could say included “Me sleepy”, “Baby meemee way loh” and “Baby Boonooloo!” They cost approximately $19.99.
The toys were available exclusively in Europe but were also sold in the US through the Hasbro Toy Shop website. In 2006, some Furby Babies were sold together with Funky Furby in an “Exclusive Twin Pack.” The voice for the 2005 Furby Baby was reportedly provided by Patricia Thompson, who also voiced the adult Furbys from the same year.
The instruction manual notes that the device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules, warns about potential interference with radio reception, and contains instructions for troubleshooting such interference. It also states that the toy is not suitable for children under three years of age due to small parts that pose a choking hazard.
For maximum play value with the Furby Baby, it is important to follow the care instructions. The toy should be activated by switching the switch to the “ON” position, after which it will open its eyes and begin making sounds or saying “Feed me!” The Furby Baby has two sensors: a belly sensor and a mouth sensor that is activated when feeding with a bottle or finger.
Care
When caring for the Furby Baby, several things should be kept in mind: the toy cannot be washed in a washing machine, soaked in water, or cleaned with detergents or stain removers on its fur. For cleaning, gently wipe the fur with a cloth or soft brush. It is also important to avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures, which can damage the mechanism.
The Furby Baby was equipped with the unique Furbish language, which allowed communication with it in its “magical” language. A Furbish-English dictionary was included with the toy to help understand what the Furby was saying.
The Furby Baby is not only an entertaining toy but also a unique companion capable of bringing much joy and learning moments to children and adults alike.
